For Immediate Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Thursday, May 24, 2018 –The Department of Elections will extend the City Hall Voting Center hours, adding weekend hours. Starting this Saturday, May 26, the Voting Center will be open every day through Election Day, Tuesday, June 5 as follows:

  • Monday-Friday, through June 4, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on Memorial Day, May 28)
  • Saturday and Sunday, May 26–27 and June 2–3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Note: A large event will take place in the Civic Center neighborhood around City Hall the weekend before Election Day. Voters are advised to plan for road closures, limited parking, and large crowds in the area.
  • Election Day, Tuesday, June 5, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Eligible residents who missed the May 21 registration deadline are encouraged to visit the Voting Center to conditionally register and vote a provisional ballot.

Conditional Voter Registration, which became operative throughout California in 2017, can be completed in a few simple steps. First, an individual must complete a voter registration form and a ballot application. Upon submission of the forms, Department staff will provide a ballot and a provisional envelope. After marking the ballot, the voter will place the ballot cards in the envelope, sign and seal the envelope, and drop the envelope into the secure ballot return box. The envelope has a tear-off receipt with a number that the voter can use to check the status of the ballot at Once Department staff verifies the individual's eligibility to register, the voter registration becomes permanent and the provisional ballot will be counted in the June 5 election.

Those who are unsure of their voter registration status can use or call the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375 to determine their status.
