The Department of Elections Begins Logic and Accuracy Testing of the Voting Equipment for the November 3 Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Friday, September 11, 2020 – In preparation for the November 3, 2020, Consolidated General Election, the Department of Elections will begin Logic and Accuracy testing of the voting equipment on Friday, September 18. A detailed schedule of Logic and Accuracy testing, including dates and hours, is available at

The voting machines that comprise San Francisco’s voting system are the ImageCast Evolution Ballot-Scanning Machine, ImageCast X Ballot-Marking Device, and ImageCast Central Scanner, all of which are subject to testing.

The testing will be conducted at the Department’s warehouse, located at Pier 31 and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, located on 99 Grove Street.

Testing of voting equipment is open to public observation. While elections processes may be observed in person, the Department encourages observers to view election activities via live stream on

State election law requires that Logic and Accuracy testing be performed prior to each election to ensure that the equipment properly records and accurately tabulates all votes.
