SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 –On Monday, the Department of Elections began mailing the Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot for the November 8 election.

Approximately 180,000 pamphlets have already entered the mail for delivery to voters, with the remaining 280,000 pamphlets expected to arrive to post offices this week.

In addition to a Sample Ballot, the Voter Information Pamphlet includes information about the voting process, election dates and deadlines, an impartial summary of each local ballot measure, candidate statements, and the Ballot Worksheet, which lists every contest and measure and provides space for voters to note their selections.

The back cover of the Pamphlet features each voter’s polling place address, based on the voter’s home address. At the time the pamphlets were printed, there were six precincts for which polling place locations had not been secured. Voters in these six precincts will soon receive a notice in the mail with the address and cross streets of their polling place. Voters can also check their polling place location using the Polling Place and Sample Ballot Lookup Tool on

HTML and PDF versions of the Pamphlet can be accessed from the “Voting in the November 8, 2016, Election” page of under “Voter guides and sample ballot.” Shortly, the Department will post the Pamphlet in MP3 audio format.
