The Department of Elections Provides a Notice of Ballot Simplification Committee Meetings for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Sunday, February 20, 2022 – Beginning Monday, February 28, the Ballot Simplification Committee will conduct public meetings to prepare a fair and impartial summary of each local ballot measure for the June 7 election. These summaries, or “digests,” will be printed in San Francisco’s Voter Information Pamphlet, which is provided by the Department of Elections to every registered voter before each election.                                                

Each digest must explain the primary purposes and points of the measure and must include the following four sections:

  • The Way It Is Now
  • The Proposal
  • A “Yes” Vote Means
  • A “No” Vote Means

The Ballot Simplification Committee must complete its digests no later than 85 days before the election, which is Monday, March 14.

The Ballot Simplification Committee will meet remotely via Webex and include instructions regarding remote access in its meeting agenda.

Meeting agendas and related materials will be posted at sfelections.org/bsc. Agendas will be posted at least 72 hours prior to the meeting, as mandated by the Sunshine Ordinance. Other agenda materials will be made available in the same locations as early as possible.
