The Department of Elections Reminds San Franciscans that Monday, May 23 is the Last Day to Register to Vote and Receive a Ballot by Mail for the June 7 Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, May 17, 2022 – The deadline to register to vote or update registration information and receive a ballot in the mail for the June 7, 2022 Election is Monday, May 23.

Eligible residents can register to vote online at: or by submitting a paper voter registration application to the Department of Elections in-person or by mail (mailed registration applications must be postmarked on or before May 23, 2022).

If an eligible resident misses the May 23rd deadline, they can still register and vote at the City Hall Voting Center during voting hours or at a polling place on Election Day. 

Voters can check if they are registered to vote in San Francisco or confirm that their voter registration information is up to date using an online Voter Portal at: The Voter Portal serves as a centralized place where voters can obtain information about their registration, check the status of their vote-by-mail ballot, and review other relevant resources such as their sample ballot and the Voter Information Pamphlet.

In the coming days, to bring voter registration opportunities to various neighborhoods in the City and encourage San Franciscans to cast their vote in the June 7 election, the Department of Elections’ Outreach Team will host tabling events at these locations:

Friday, May 20
Portsmouth Square at Kearny St. and Washington St., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Bayview/Linda Brooks-Burton Branch Library, 5075 3rd St., 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 21
Lake Merced Boathouse, 1 Harding Rd., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Golden Gate Park at Stanyan St. and Haight St., noon – 6 p.m.

Sunday, May 22
Sunday Streets - Bayview/Dogpatch at 3rd St. and Armstrong Ave., 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Dolores Park at Dolores St. and 19th St., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Monday, May 23
Tenderloin Linkage Center, 1178 Market St., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Main Library, 100 Larkin St., 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Island Cove Market on Treasure Island, 800 Avenue H, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Additionally, on May 23, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., the Outreach Team will host a registration table on the corner of Grove and Polk Streets. Elections staff will facilitate the collection of voter registration applications and vote-by-mail ballots, provide voter registration applications as well as information about the June 7 election and election-related services.
