City and County of San Francisco
John Arntz, Director

For Immediate Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Monday, November 7, 2022– Tomorrow is Election Day and all of San Francisco’s 501 polling places as well as the City Hall Voting Center will be open for registration and voting services from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Voters who still have their vote-by-mail ballot can drop it off at any polling place, ballot drop box, or at the City Hall Voting Center. Those voting in person have a right to cast a ballot, as long as they are in line at the polls by 8:00 p.m.,” said Director John Arntz. “Anyone with questions or concerns on Election Day is urged to promptly call the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375 so our personnel can resolve any issues while the polls are open.”

Any local voter may utilize translated election materials, accessible voting equipment, or personal assistance at any in-person voting site.

Anyone returning a vote-by-mail ballot to an official ballot drop box, polling place, or to the City Hall Voting Center is reminded to arrive before the close of polls at 8 p.m. Anyone returning a ballot by mail on Election Day is advised to confirm the last mail pickup time has not yet occurred before depositing their ballot return envelope into the USPS mailbox.

After the polls close on Election Night, the Department of Elections will issue four preliminary election results reports at sfelections.sfgov.org/november-8-2022-election-results-summary, with the first report being issued at approximately 8:45 p.m. All preliminary reports will change as the Department counts the many thousands of ballots which will be received on Election Day.

No results report will be issued on Wednesday, November 9. However, on that day, the Department will begin posting the approximate number of ballots left to count on its website and will update that number daily. Beginning on November 10, the Department will also begin posting an updated results report at 4 p.m. of every day ballots are counted.
