For Immediate Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Thursday, October 27, 2022 – The Department of Elections reminds San Francisco voters they have several convenient options for returning their vote-by-mail ballots in the November 8, 2022 Consolidated General Election.
“The Department of Elections mailed vote-by-mail ballot packets to all registered voters for the November 8 election. So far, approximately 51,000 San Francisco voters have returned their ballots,” said Director John Arntz.
“We encourage voters to take advantage of one of the many convenient ballot return options available in San Francisco – you can mail your ballot, put it in any of the 34 official ballot drop boxes located throughout the City, or bring it to the City Hall Voting Center.”
After marking the ballot, enclosing it in a return envelope, and signing the envelope, voters may choose one the following return options:
By postal mail - No stamp is needed if returning through the USPS. For the ballot to be counted, the envelope must be signed and postmarked by Election Day, November 8. To search for convenient locations of USPS boxes and pickup times, voters can go to usps.com/locator.
To an official ballot drop box - Between now and 8 p.m. on Election Day, voters can return their ballots to any of San Francisco’s 34 official ballot drop boxes, all of which are clearly marked and available 24/7. A map of San Francisco’s official ballot drop boxes can be found at sfelections.org/ballotdropoff.
To a voting site - Between now and 8 p.m. on Election Day, voters can return their ballots to the City Hall Voting Center. On Election Day, voters can return their ballots to any of 501 polling places in San Francisco. To search for the nearest polling place, voters can go to sfelections.org/myvotinglocation.
Voters who have already returned their ballots can encourage others to do the same by wearing their “I Voted” stickers. In addition to the paper sticker included in each vote-by-mail ballot packet, a digital version of the sticker, which can be shared on social media, is available under the Track My Ballot tab of the Voter Portal at sfelections.org/voterportal.
Any local voter who has not yet received their ballot packet is urged to call the Department at (415) 554-4375, write to sfvote@sfgov.org, or use the “Request a Replacement Ballot” tab at sfelections.org/voterportal to request redelivery. Any local voter can also request a replacement ballot in person at the City Hall Voting Center.
