Preliminary Election Results Report #12 and Ballot Processing Update: San Francisco Department of Elections

SAN FRANCISCO, Thursday, March 12, 2020 – The San Francisco Department of Elections (Department) issued the 12th preliminary election results report of votes cast for the March 3, 2020 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election.

Today’s report includes 3,281 votes consisting of results from vote-by-mail and provisional ballots.  The Department has processed most vote-by-mail ballots and a few hundred remain for counting.  The provisional ballots included in today’s results report were cast in all of the 11 Supervisorial Districts.

The estimated total number of remaining ballots to process is less than 500 and consists of vote-by-mail, provisional and conditional voter registration ballots.

The Department has nearly completed the review and processing of provisional ballots.  The total number cast for this election is nearly 34,000.

Department personnel will work until 5 p.m. today, Thursday, March 12.  On Friday, March 13, Department personnel will process ballots from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Department will release updated results reports at 4 p.m. on days the Department tabulates votes and will post results reports on the Department’s website:

When releasing results, the Department also will post summary results, as well as results according to precincts, neighborhoods, and Supervisorial districts, and in multiple formats.
