For Immediate Release

SAN FRANCISCO, Monday, March 9, 2020 – The San Francisco Department of Elections (Department) issued the ninth preliminary election results report of votes cast for the March 3, 2020 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election.

Today’s report includes 6,775 votes consisting of results from vote-by-mail and provisional ballots.  The Department has processed most vote-by-mail ballots and a few hundred remain for counting.  The provisional ballots included in today’s results report were cast in Supervisorial Districts 4, 5, and 6.  More provisional ballots from these three Supervisorial Districts remain for review and processing.

Today, the Department received approximately 200 vote-by-mail ballots from other counties that these counties received on Election Day.  The Department continues its initial review of provisional and conditional voter registration ballots and the approximate number of these categories of ballots that the Department received on Election Day is 33,000.

The estimated total number of remaining ballots to process is 21,500, which consists of approximately 500 vote-by-mail ballots and 21,000 provisional and conditional voter registration ballots.

These approximate totals are based on preliminary counts of ballots and will change as the Department processes ballots during the next few weeks. The Department will issue daily updates on the number of ballots remaining for processing and counting.

Department personnel will work until 8 p.m. today, Monday, March 9.  On Tuesday, March 10, Department personnel will process ballots from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Department will release updated results reports at 4 p.m. on days the Department tabulates votes and will post results reports on the Department’s website:
