San Francisco Department of Elections: Election Results Report #11 and Ballot Processing Update

SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 – The San Francisco Department of Elections issued the 11th preliminary results report of votes cast for the June 5, 2018, Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election. 

Today’s report also includes approximately 9,200 ballots that were tallied since yesterday’s report. 

Today’s report includes votes from approximately 7,311 provisional ballots cast by voters at the polling places.  The Department will continue to process provisional ballots for the next few days. 

Additionally, today’s report includes votes from approximately 1,800 ballots received from the post office with valid postmarks on June 5. 

The Department must still process more than 1,100 ballots cast under Conditional Voter Registration (CVR), and must still review more than 250 CVR ballots.

The Department is still processing approximately 8,000 ballots, or nearly 32,000 cards.

All voters Citywide voted using ballots comprised of four-cards.

The Department must still review and process vote-by-mail ballots received from the post office after Election Day and postmarked on or before June 5 and which arrived by Friday, June 8.  Also, the Department must still re-tabulate cards that were separated during initial processing for manual review.  Additionally, the Department will process ballots associated with the Canvass of the election which is taking place in the Department’s warehouse on Pier 48.

The Department will issue preliminary results reports daily around 4 p.m.

Ballot Processing Update
The Department continues to review approximately 8,000 ballots for processing.  This total includes approximately 1,000 vote-by-mail ballots and an estimated 7,000 provisional ballots.  

The Department must still process approximately 1,000 vote-by-mail ballots with valid postmarks received from the post office before Friday, June 8.  Additionally, the Department must re-tabulate any cards that required manual review after initial processing of vote-by-mail ballots.

Voters also cast nearly 14,000 provisional ballots on Election Day.  The Department began counting these provisional ballots and votes from approximately 7,300 provisional ballots are included in today’s count.  Nearly 7,000 provisional ballots remain to be counted.  The counting of provisional ballots will continue for several days.
