San Francisco Department of Elections: Election Results Report #13 and Ballot Processing Update

SAN FRANCISCO, Thursday, June 14, 2018 – The San Francisco Department of Elections issued the 13th preliminary results report of votes cast for the June 5, 2018, Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election. 

Today’s report includes approximately 2,413 ballots that were tallied since yesterday’s report. 

Today’s report also includes votes from nearly 1,300 provisional ballots cast by voters at the polling places.  The Department will continue to process provisional ballots for the next few days. 

Additionally, today’s report includes votes from approximately 100 ballots received from the post office with valid postmarks on or before June 5. 

The Department counted approximately 975 ballots cast under Conditional Voter Registration (CVR), and must still process around 400 CVR ballots.

The Department is still processing approximately 4,300 ballots, or more than 17,000 ballot cards.

All voters Citywide voted using ballots comprised of four-cards.

The Department must still review and process nearly 600 vote-by-mail ballots received from the post office after Election Day and that were postmarked on or before June 5 and arrived by Friday, June 8.  Also, nearly 100 ballots from voters using the Remote Accessible Vote-By-Mail system and over 400 votes cast by voters using Conditional Voter Registration must also be processed.  Further, the Department must still re-tabulate cards that were separated during initial processing for manual review. 

Additionally, the Department will process ballots associated with the Canvass of the election which is taking place in the Department’s warehouse on Pier 48.

The Department will issue preliminary results reports daily around 4 p.m. that ballot cards are counted.  The Department most likely will not count ballots this weekend, and not issue results reports on Saturday and Sunday.  The Department will post a notice on its website if it does not count ballot cards during Saturday or Sunday, June 16 and 17.

Ballot Processing Update
The Department must still process over 4,300 ballots. This total includes approximately 600 vote-by-mail ballots, over 3,200 provisional ballots, and over 400 Conditional Voter Registration ballots.  

Additionally, the Department must re-tabulate any cards that required manual review after initial processing of vote-by-mail ballots.

Selection of Precincts to Include the One Percent Manual Tally
Earlier today the Department randomly selected precincts to include in the One Percent Manual Tally of votes cast.  The Department posted a recording of this selection of precincts on its website.  The link is contained in the following press release regarding the selection of these precincts.  The One Percent Manual Tally will begin on Monday, June 18, 8 a.m., in the Department’s warehouse, located on Pier 48, in Shed B.
