Today is Election Day for the 2022 Consolidated Special Municipal Election!

SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, February 15, 2022– The City Hall Voting Center and all 314 polling places are open in San Francisco from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. All in-person voting sites offer translated election materials and accessible voting equipment, and are set up to facilitate safe and convenient voting experience. San Franciscans can confirm the locations of their polling places at or by calling (415) 554-4375.  

Voters may drop off their mailed ballots at any polling place or the City Hall Voting Center. Voters can also return their ballots to any of the 34 official ballot drop boxes in the City. (A list of official San Francisco ballot boxes can be found at Ballots that are personally returned must be delivered no later than the close of polls at 8:00 p.m.

Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked with today’s date. Voters should check the pick-up time on the blue USPS collection box, home letterbox, or business mail drop, if mailing their ballots on Election Day. If the last pick-up has already occurred, the ballot envelope will be postmarked late and will not be counted. Voters can also take the ballot to a local post office and confirm with the counter representative that the ballot will be postmarked with today’s date.

Anyone with questions related to voting or other election matters is urged to call the Department of Elections immediately at (415) 554-4375 so that Department personnel can assist while the polls are open and there is still the opportunity to vote.

The Department of Elections will release preliminary election results tonight. The first report will be available at approximately 8:45 p.m., with updates throughout the evening. The results will be available from the following sources:

  1. City Hall, North Light Court –printed copies of the summary results reports will be available. Director John Arntz will be available for questions at this location.
  2. Department of Elections, City Hall, Room 48 – printed copies of the summary results reports will be available.
  3. On the results page of the Department’s website, – all results reports, including the preliminary Statement of the Vote, ranked-choice reports, and Cast Vote Record data, will be posted.
  4. On SFGTV, Channel 26 in a news ticker during SFGTV programming.
