Today is Election Day for the November 8, 2022 Consolidated General Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, November 8, 2022 – During voting hours (7 a.m. - 8 p.m.) on Election Day, approximately 2,000 poll workers will assist local voters at 501 polling places across the city as well as at the City Hall Voting Center. Any local voter may go to sfelections.org/myvotinglocation, refer to the back of their Voter Information Pamphlet, or call (415) 554-4375 to locate their assigned polling place.

Any eligible San Franciscan who missed the regular registration deadline can still register and cast a ballot in person in the November 8 Election. Post-deadline registration, also called “conditional” registration, involves filling out a provisional envelope which serves as a registration form and casting a provisional ballot. After Election Day, Department staff will count all valid provisional ballots. Any provisional voter may check the status of their ballot at sfelections.org/pvlookup or by calling (415) 554-4375, starting Friday, November 11.

Anyone returning a vote-by-mail ballot to an official ballot drop box, polling place, or to the City Hall Voting Center is reminded to arrive before the close of polls at 8 p.m. A list and map of San Francisco’s official ballot drop boxes is available at sfelections.org/ballotdropoff.

Anyone returning a ballot by mail on Election Day is advised to confirm the last mail pickup time has not yet occurred before depositing their ballot return envelope into the USPS mailbox. If the last pickup has already occurred, the ballot envelope will be postmarked late and will not be counted. As an alternative, voters can take the ballot to a local post office and confirm with the counter representative that the ballot will be postmarked with today’s date.

Any eligible San Franciscan who has yet to vote but is unable to travel to an in-person voting site, can request ballot delivery and/or pickup service by calling the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375.  

Any local voter with questions about their voting options or other election matters is urged to call the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375 as soon as possible so that Department staff can assist while the polls are open and there is still the opportunity to vote.

After the polls close on Election Night, the Department of Elections will issue four preliminary election results reports at sfelections.sfgov.org/november-8-2022-election-results-summary, with the first report being issued at approximately 8:45 p.m. All preliminary reports will change as the Department counts the many thousands of ballots which will be received on Election Day.
