A voter can obtain a Voter Registration Card from the Department of Elections offices, download a Voter Registration Card from the California Secretary of State website at www.ss.ca.gov, or pick one up in person at public libraries, city and county offices and DMV offices. The completed card must be received at the Department's offices, Room 48 in City Hall, by 5:00 p.m. today, Monday, October 18.

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 requires first-time voters who registered by mail after January 1, 2003 to display identification at the polling place before voting. However, if such a voter has not brought identification to the polling place, he or she can still vote by casting a provisional ballot. Voters can refer to the Voter Information Pamphlet, which is mailed to all voters and posted on the Department of Elections website (www.sfgov.org/election), to find a detailed list of acceptable identification.
