Ballot Arguments

All San Francisco voters are entitled to author arguments in favor of or against a particular ballot measure, for publication in the Voter Information Pamphlet.

Ballot argument requirements are established by the San Francisco Municipal Elections Code and California Elections Code; arguments must be submitted in the manner specified by the Director of Elections. Therefore, before preparing an argument for submission, we strongly recommend that you read the Guide to Submitting Ballot Arguments thoroughly.

The Department of Elections is happy to assist with your ballot argument needs. To schedule an appointment, call us or use our appointment form.
