As future leaders of our community, it is essential that students have the opportunity to learn about elections and engage with civics at an early age. The Department of Elections offers resources and programs to help high school students take action and participate in the democratic process.
High School Ambassador Program
Join other students across San Francisco to spread the word about elections by serving as a high school ambassador during Voter Education Weeks every April and September. The Department will provide you with the resources and support for you to imagine, design, and conduct your very own outreach event to help San Francisco students pre-register to vote. Gain volunteer experience and community service hours as you promote elections awareness around your school and community.

High School Poll Worker Program
Every election, approximately 1,000 San Francisco high school students join forces with other members of the community to volunteer at polling places around the city. You can be a part of this experience and even earn a stipend for your service by applying to become a High School Poll Worker.

Did you know that in California you can pre-register to vote when you turn sixteen? Pre-register to vote by completing a registration card or by using the , and your registration will automatically become active on your eighteenth birthday.
