The Department of Elections Hosts an Open House on Friday, October 12, 1 p.m.–4 p.m.

SAN FRANCISCO, Friday, October 5, 2018 – The Department of Elections will host an Open House on Friday, October 12, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at its office in City Hall, Room 48.

The Department invites interested members of the public, representatives from community organizations, and journalists to discover the many processes required to administer an election in the City.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Department personnel, learn and ask questions about election programs and services, including poll worker recruitment, acquisition of polling places, outreach, ballot production, ballot processing, and more.

Open House guests can visit a mock polling place, tour the Voting Center, and listen to Department personnel answering live calls in the public phone bank.

Attendees may sit in on a poll worker training class, take part in an outreach presentation and a presentation about how candidates and measures get on the ballot, or view a demonstration about how Department personnel survey polling places for accessibility.  

Attendees may examine some tools used to proof ballots and participate in a walkthrough of the ballot envelope processing room. 

The Open House will also feature a discussion of the many Department activities livestreamed at sfelections.org/observe.
