For Immediate Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Friday, April 22, 2022 – Today the San Francisco Department of Elections issued the fifth preliminary election results report of votes cast in the April 19, 2022, Special General Election.

Today’s report includes 688 votes from vote-by-mail, provisional, conditional, and voter-remedied ballots processed since the previous preliminary results report that the Department issued yesterday.

The Department is essentially current with ballot processing.  However, the canvass of the election continues and the Department may still process ballots.  For instance, voters can still remedy signature-related issues on return ballot envelopes, and the Department can still process ballots with envelopes postmarked on or before Election Day.

Today, the Department received 141 vote-by-mail ballots from the United States Postal Service (USPS).  After review, the Department determined that 64 return envelopes were postmarked on or before Election Day and eligible for processing. The Department will continue to process vote-by-mail ballots with valid postmarks and are received through Tuesday, April 26, from the USPS or a bona fide private mail delivery company.

The Department will be closed and will not issue preliminary results reports this weekend, April 23 and 24.

All results reports are posted on the Department’s website:

When releasing results, the Department also will post summary results, as well as results according to precincts, neighborhoods, and Supervisorial districts, and in multiple formats.
