For Immediate Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Friday, April 1, 2022 –The deadline to register to vote or update registration information and receive a ballot in the mail for the April 19, 2022, Special General Election is Monday, April 4, 2022.

Eligible residents can register to vote online at registertovote.ca.gov or by submitting a paper voter registration application to the Department of Elections in-person or by mail (mailed registration applications must be postmarked on or before April 4, 2022).

If an eligible resident misses the April 4 deadline, they can still register and vote at the City Hall Voting Center during voting hours or at a polling place on Election Day.

Voters can check if they are registered to vote in San Francisco or confirm that their voter registration information is up to date using an online Voter Portal at: sfelections.org/voterportal. The Voter Portal serves as a centralized place where voters can obtain information about their registration, check the status of their vote-by-mail ballot, locate their assigned polling place, and review other relevant resources such as their sample ballot and the Voter Information Pamphlet.

On April 4, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., Department of Elections’ Outreach Team will host a registration table on the corner of Grove and Polk Streets. Elections staff will facilitate the collection of voter registration applications, provide voter registration applications to those who wish to register to vote, and distribute materials with information about the April 19 election and election-related services.

Anyone with questions about registration or voting is encouraged to call the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375 or write to sfvote@sfgov.org.
