SAN FRANCISCO, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 – The Department of Elections reminds San Franciscans of important deadlines for the upcoming Consolidated General Election – November 6th is just three weeks away!

Deadline to Register to Vote
Monday, October 22, is the deadline to register to vote or to update registration information for the upcoming election. Mailed registration cards must be postmarked on or before October 22. Those who register online at registertovote.ca.gov have until midnight on October 22.

Those who are not sure if they are registered or whether their registration information is current can check their status at sfelections.org/reglookup.

Conditional Voter Registration Period
Eligible residents who miss the October 22 registration deadline can still vote in the November election. Those individuals can register to vote and cast a provisional ballot at the City Hall Voting Center during voting hours from Tuesday, October 23, through the close of polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

Deadline to Request a Ballot by Mail
Tuesday, October 30, is the deadline to request a ballot by mail. Those who have not already applied but wish to vote by mail may do so by calling (415) 554-4375, completing an online application at sfelections.org/vbm, or completing and submitting the form on the back cover of the Voter Information Pamphlet.

An application for permanent vote-by-mail status requires a voter’s signature. Those who wish to receive a ballot by mail for all future elections may print, complete, and submit the form available on sfelections.org.

Deadline to Return a Ballot by Mail
Those who plan to mail their ballots must ensure their ballot envelopes will be postmarked by the United States Postal Service (USPS) or date stamped by a delivery company before or on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, and received by the Department of Elections no later than Friday, November 9. Those who mail their ballots on Election Day using a blue USPS mailbox are advised to check the posted pick-up time.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6!
Ballots must be cast by the close of polls at 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Voters may confirm polling place addresses at sfelections.org/tools/pollsite or by checking the back cover of the Voter Information Pamphlet.

Those who prefer to return their vote-by-mail ballots in person may bring them, in sealed and signed return envelopes, to the Department’s Voting Center in City Hall, the Ballot Drop-Off Stations outside City Hall, or to any polling place during voting hours on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

For more information about the upcoming election, call the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375, write to sfvote@sfgov.org, or visit the Department of Elections office in City Hall, Room 48.
