November 3 Consolidated General Election Results Report #7 and Ballot Processing Update

SAN FRANCISCO, Friday, November 6, 2020 – The San Francisco Department of Elections issued the seventh preliminary election results report of votes cast for the November 3, 2020, Consolidated General Election.

Today’s report includes 35,859 votes since yesterday’s results report. 

The estimated total number of remaining ballots to process is approximately 26,000, which consists of approximately 18,000 vote-by-mail ballots and approximately 6,400 provisional and 1,400 conditional voter registration ballots.  

The United State Postal Service delivered approximately 300 ballots today, of which nearly 40 were postmarked on or before Election Day and will be counted.  The Department has received nearly 1,000 vote-by-mail ballots that San Francisco voters delivered to other counties in California. 

Today’s results report includes votes from the provisional ballots received from Supervisorial District 1. The Department will begin reporting results on Saturday, November 7, from provisional ballots from the remaining Supervisorial districts.  The total number of provisional ballots received from all polling places is approximately 6,400.

These approximate totals are based on preliminary counts of ballots and will change as the Department processes ballots over the next several weeks. The Department will issue daily updates on the number of ballots remaining for processing and counting. 

Department personnel will work until 5 p.m. today.  Beginning tomorrow, November 7, Department personnel will work from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. to review and process vote-by-mail, provisional, and conditional voter registration ballots. The Department expects to process most vote-by-mail ballots by Saturday, November 7.

When releasing results, the Department also will post summary results, as well as results according to precincts, neighborhoods, and Supervisorial districts, and in multiple formats.
